Programer's Conference with Charging Chaos
April 23, 2014

We had an informal programer's conference with Charging Chaos, team #6914, today. We discussed different programming structures to use in RobotC, including making your task main mainly function calls so as to make it quicker while cycling through it, and using dead reckoning for the autonomous program when you don't have time for adding sensors. Our head mentor made our team a really great packet that goes through pretty much everything you need to know to write a RobotC program, and we went through that together. We also went over the binary number codes for the different joystick buttons, mainly for use in if/then statments and switch statements. Both of us had our robots, and we took turns examining and asking questions of each other. One very important note we made was that we need a carrying handle on our robot next year, as anyone who has had to carry Johnny 5 more than 10 feet can attest to! After a great day of learning, collaboration, and forming friendships, they kindly treated us to lunch. Thank you to Charging Chaos for such a wonderful learning experience!
