Today we got to go to the GE Healthcare building and share our robots and knowledge with several groups of boy scouts. We had Borg, our 2014-15 competition robot on display. The scouts got to see demonstrations of how it worked and ask questions about the design, the challenge, the engineering design process, and robotics in general. There were three robots that they were able to have the experience of driving. One was a small segway that had two wheels and was run by an NXT brick. The other two were both larger robots made with Tetrix parts. One was run by the old field system, the other by the new field system involving ZTE smart phones. We used the projection unit to play videos of our tournament matches that the boys could watch at their leisure. There were small 3D printed objects with integrated electronics like LEDs and microprocessors for them to look at and ask questions about, as well as a larger microprocessor project with the same purpose. The whole event was a sucess, and a lot of fun for our entire team.
